Hawt Post?!

http://doctorbulldog.wordpress.com/2008/03/27/fitna-english-version/

This was today’s featured “hawt post” today on the front page of WordPress’s website.

If they were talking about Blacks, Jews, Asians, etc……this post would certainly not have made it up on the front page.  But it is about Mozzzzzzlems after all, so by all means…fire away!!!

I hope to Gawwwwd that WordPress chooses these “featured blogs” at random and this is just a fluke.  Otherwise, I’ll try not to let this disturb me too much.

Oy!  The CHUTZPAH!

(Disclaimer: The above message was brought to you by a peaceful Muslim woman who is married to a peaceful Muslim man.  We have 3 peaceful Muslim children who play with dolls and blocks, they have never been fitted for suicide vests, nor to they play with rocks and slingshots.  Despite public opinion, the MUSLIM parents of these children teach them to live in harmony with those around them and also teach them to LOVE their neighbors as they love themselves.  Miraculously, these principles have been found somewhere in the vast archives of  IZZLAMIC hadith as well as throughout the lessons taught in the KOH-RAN

No one in the family mentioned above has ever, EVER had an inclination to rob, rape, pillage, murder, chant angry slogans, protest with a AK-47 in one hand and open mini-Quran in the other, burn embassies, burn bibles, burn churches, burn synagogues, slap Pat Robertson (well, maybe not that one), torture puppies OR steal the socks out of your dryer while you are sleeping.  We hope you will believe the above statement and accept the fact that there are MILLIONS of other Muslims just like us, but I am sure you won’t because you already believe that all Muslims are lying, cheating, murderous, polygamist, sneaky, dirty, smelly and dispicable excuses for human beings.  That is very sad, but I take comfort in knowing that it is YOUR loss, not ours.

Oh and BTW, we DO hate our neighbors’ dog, but it’s not because we got it from a hadith….the dang mutt just likes to bark incessantly at 3 in the morning….so please forgive us!  We’re only human ;))

Have a happy smilely, sunshiney, rainbow filled, day despite us dirty, rotten Mozzies getting in your way!!!!

From,

Your friendly Muslimah neighbor (really)

Sabiwabi,

The “Hot Posts” on WordPress are just the posts receiving the most hits and has nothing to do with the staff at WordPress.

If it had been an anti-semite or anti-christian video that was receiving a high amount of traffic, you would be seeing that on the “Hot Posts” page as well.

I neither support, nor condemn the movie. I just put it up there in an effort to allow others to view it and form their own opinions.

Truth be told, I don’t even think it’s all that great, nor do I think it is offensive. For reference, compare it with Obssession:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=gMLJJEDDDGc

Radical Islamists use the Qur’an to justify killing innocent men, women, and children. That is the REAL offense.

Geert Wilders merely showed a few verses in the Qur’an that radicals use to justify killing in the name of Allah, and then said it is up to Muslims to reform Islam by “removing” (i.e.- re-interpreting) those Suras that Islamists seem to be “misunderstanding.”

That was Mr. Wilders’ point in producing the film. But, you need to really watch the ending to understand the film as a whole.

Cheers

P.S. - nice blog!

Thank you for your response.

I am opposed to violence and extremism as well, and I became Muslim in order to bring peace and harmony into my life, not to embrace the opposite.

People have to be careful not to paint whole nations, races or religions into one corner. Some of the comments on your post disturbed me because they were hateful in tone. It is important to seperate the crazy extremists in any religion from the religion itself.

Have a peaceful day, and I encourage you to visit my blog, or any other blog on my links for an example of how Islam can benefit humanity and the world in general.

Peace.

Assalam alaikum.

I guess we could have made one showing the Serbs that were blessed by their priests as they marched off to murder thousands at Sbrenicia. I guess we could show news footage of the aftermath of Baruch Goldsteins attack that killed some 30 Palestinians at prayer and mixed them with Bibilical injunctions for Jews to slaughter all members of some tribes, down to the man, woman, children, even the animals.

One must look beyond the obvious and figure out the motivation for a movie like this. He could have made a movie about the Hindu extremists in Indian who rioted and killed several thousand Muslims, he choose to to this to further his own hatred of Muslims and Islam.

He has nothing against violence in the name of religion, if he did he’d cover the subject closer to home with Orthodox Christians committing genocide against Catholics in Croatia, giving their three fingered religious sign as they did so. He has a beef against Islam plain and simple.

I agree with your point Abu.

I am disconcerted with “Bulldog” because I don’t believe that the niceness that he revealed to me in his comments is actually reflective of how he is when the “cameras are off”, just read his blog. I am however, a strong believer in the example that Prophet Muhammed set for us (on how to treat people that are cruel to you, ie: Taif) so I am going to opt for the high road and remain kind and cordial. I have done the other type of response before and it never produced any positive results. God knows best.

I offered Bulldog a glimpse into my world and the world of other Muslims like me. Now the onus is upon HIM as to how he wants that to impact his life and belief system.

Masalaam

sabiwabi,

Yup, I’m still here… (I’m not one to refuse an invite… ;)

I have no problems with “moderate” Muslims, per se. The problem I have is with radical Muslims.

Unfortunately, one cannot be a “moderate” Muslim without ignoring radical commandments from Allah and his Messenger in the Qur’an and disregarding Muhammad’s own violent/hypocritical lifestyle. Of course, this puts one in conflict with Allah’s very own words in the Qur’an as follows:

“…And whatsoever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatsoever he forbids you, abstain (from it) , and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is severe in punishment.” [Qur’an 59:7]

“He who obeys the Messenger, obeys Allah.” [Qur’an 4:80]

“It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path.” [Qur’an 33:36]

So, long story short, I consider peaceful “moderate” Muslims like yourself to be apostates from Islam (which is a good thing), and therefore, I have no problems with that.

P.S. - I’m an apostate myself…

Assalam alaikum

If you look into EVERY religion you will find things in texts which appear to promote violence, hatred, etc…. It is a matter of reading those texts in the CONTEXT they were given. Islam has the benefit of having a historical narrative in the form of hadith to follow the story of how the Quran was revealed and why things were revealed at what times. What we see today as “violent religion” is actually just angry people looking for justifcation to commit violence to pursue their own political or personal agendas. Often times they fall back on the “religion” simply to cover their tracks. If terrorism was the cornerstone of Islamic teaching, trust me Bulldog, the world would have come to an end a long time ago. It is sad to me that you have thrown out a beautiful spiritual path for the sake of being loved and admired by people, as so many other “Muslims” have.

You may call us apostates, but at the end of the day it only matters what God sees us as, right?

The path we seek is the path that Prophet Muhammed instructed ALL Muslims to follow, which is the MIDDLE one.

I like this witty phrase taught by one of my husband’s Sheikh’s, when he said that, “you know that you are on the middle path when the Sufi’s call you a Salafi and the Salafi’s call you a Sufi.”

“you know that you are on the middle path when the Sufi’s call you a Salafi and the Salafi’s call you a Sufi.” :)
